Why go outside the city

The countryside around Udaipur holds some of Mewar's biggest sights

Udaipur's own City Palace and lakes only tell half the story of the Mewar region. Within a two-hour drive sit Kumbhalgarh — the second-longest continuous wall in the world after the Great Wall of China — and Ranakpur, a Jain temple carved from pale marble with over 1,400 individually sculpted pillars, no two exactly alike.

We run this as a flexible day tour rather than a fixed package: tell us which two or three stops matter most to you (Kumbhalgarh, Ranakpur, Nathdwara's Shrinathji temple, Eklingji, or Chittorgarh's hilltop fort) and we build the driving order around them, with enough time at each to actually look rather than just photograph and move on.

Yes, they're roughly 50 minutes apart from each other, so most guests visit both in one long day, leaving Nathdwara and Chittorgarh for a separate trip.

Is Chittorgarh Fort doable as part of the same day as Kumbhalgarh?

It's possible but tight — Chittorgarh alone easily takes half a day to see properly, so we usually recommend it as its own day trip rather than rushing it alongside Kumbhalgarh.

What is the best time of day to visit Kumbhalgarh Fort?

Morning light works best for photography and cooler walking conditions; the fort also hosts a light-and-sound show in the evening if you'd rather visit later in the day.

Is the road from Udaipur to Ranakpur suitable for elderly travellers?

Yes, it's a well-maintained hill road with a scenic drive through the Aravalli range; we simply pace the stops a little slower and add a rest break if needed.

Do I need to book Kumbhalgarh or Ranakpur entry tickets in advance?
